AUSTIN, Texas — Super Bowl 58 kicks off this Sunday, and while no Texas teams are in the Big Game, there are Chiefs and 49ers fans throughout the Lone Star State.
Whether you are a member of Chiefs Kingdom or 49ers Faithful, here are the best places to join your fellow football fanatics in Austin, Dallas and San Antonio.
Austin
Starting in Austin, Chiefs fans have a couple of places to check out.
On 6th Street, the Kung Fu Saloon is the home to the “official watch party” for the Kansas City Chiefs.
While the bar doesn’t take reservations, it is expected to fill up fast, so they recommend people get there early to snag a good spot.
In the North Austin area, the Austin chapter of the Arrowhead Kingdom is hosting their watch party at Third Base in Round Rock.
According to the group’s Facebook event, they recommend getting to the bar “super early” as seats will go quickly.
A less “official” but equally as Chiefs-friendly place in Austin is The Tavern.
The bar and restaurant has two levels and an outdoor patio and calls itself the “go-to spot for Austin’s Kansas City Chiefs fans.”
The Tavern opens at 11 a.m. Sunday, so be sure to grab a spot well before the place fills up.
Bang Bang Niner Gang, there are also places for you to watch the Big Game in Austin.
In downtown Austin, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Icehouse will be a hot spot for 49ers Faithful.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is home to the “Official Austin Niners Super Watch Party,” according to the Facebook event.
There are no reservations, but like every other place on this list, get there early to snag a spot. Doors open at 11 a.m.
Another spot that claims to be the “official” game day headquarters for 49ers fans is Little Woodrow’s in Burnet.
The bar posted an event on Facebook with a start time of 3 p.m. and said, “wear your red and gold and let's make this a Super Bowl to remember.”
Dallas-Fort Worth
Chiefs Kingdom has a strong fanbase in the Dallas area, at least according to George Perry, who started the Chiefs Fans of Dallas group 21 years ago.
Perry started the group because he missed tailgating at Arrowhead Stadium.
About 18 years ago, his group started coming to Wizards Sports Cafe in Richardson, and they’ve been there since. The group has actually become pretty famous, with them even being featured in a rap song.
“A famous Kansas City rapper named Tech-9ine has a song called Kansas City. And he says Chiefs fans in hard out of town in Dallas and Wizards point,” Justin Johnson, who emcees the games at the restaurant, said. “Oh, yeah. It's well known. It's well known in Kansas City.”
Unfortunately, reservations are required for this event, and they are no longer accepting reservations.
But, according to the group’s Facebook page, they recommend these four “Chiefs bars” in the DFW are:
- Tailgaters in Frisco
- 4Thirteen Kitchen and Sports Lounge in Lewisville
- The Wing'd Nut in Richardson
- High Fives in Dallas

In Plano, the Arrowhead Sports Grill is a bar dedicated to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Niners fans, you are deep within enemy territory, Cowboys Nation. But don’t worry, there are some spots for you.
Bombshells in Arlington will be the site of the official DFW watch party for 49ers fans.
“We’re taking over the entire bar, the entire restaurant, and we are going to cheer our team on to their sixth win,” Nikki Green, treasurer of the Niner Empire DFW chapter, told Spectrum News 1.
You don’t need a reservation, but Green recommends getting to the bar around 1 p.m. because it’s going to be packed.
Farther north in Frisco, The Frisco Bar & Grill seems to be the spot for 49ers Faithful.
A lot of the reviews mention the bar being a great environment for watching 49ers games.
The restaurant posted on Facebook after the NFC Championship Game saying they don’t take personal reservations for any 49ers game, but they do reserve a number of tables for the 49ers United of Frisco group as well as any unaffiliated 49ers fans.
“Seating is first come first serve at these tables and some fans come very early to get seats,” the post said. “We do our best to accommodate everyone who turns out for the games but it is recommended to show up early to claim your spot.”
San Antonio
Finally, in San Antonio, there are two places that you are sure to find your people.
For Chiefs fans, head over to Northwest San Antonio and visit Chicken N Pickle, a sports bar that is also an indoor/outdoor entertainment complex, to play pickleball and other classic bar games.
Chicken N Pickle was first founded in North Kansas City in 2016 and has expanded from there, hence why it is a great place to root for the Chiefs. The chain is even directly connected to two Chiefs players, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, who are investors in the chain, according to USA Today.
Chicken N Pickle San Antonio is hosting an all-day watch party for the Big Game, with happy hour specials offered all day Sunday. There is no cover, and the party starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 10 p.m.
The San Antonio Niner Empire will be getting together downtown at Smoke Skybar.
This watch party is being dubbed “San Antonio’s official 49ers watch party,” with the festivities starting at 3 p.m. for tailgating.
According to the Facebook event, there will be drink specials, a DJ, raffle prizes, free swag, a bounce house and free dessert for 49ers fans.
There is no cover for the event, and you won’t need a reservation.
Super Bowl 58 will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Sunday on CBS.
